Austin AS3
Ref: 502
- Standard unrestored car
- 1953
____________________________
Here, ladies and gentlemen, is what can only be descibed as one of the best,
unrestored, 1953 Austins in the world.
We do NOT use these glowing terms lightly, and we're privileged to be able to offer it for sale
on behalf of a good customer of ours.
The car is an Austin AS3, manufactured in the Birmingham factory as an export model, and destined
for Northern Ireland. Somehow, the car found itself in the Austin main dealer in Newcastle Upon Tyne (Murray and Charlton), and the
first owner cherished it until 1971. The comprehensive service history shows that it then changed hands via a small ad. in the Newcastle
Journal (newspaper clipping included) and the bill of sale records a rather modest sum, and an equally modest mileage of 18000!
The
current owner of the car acquired it in 2005, and as an avid collector and enthusiast, improved the car with new tyres, brake overhaul,
unleaded petrol upgrade, new clutch, exhust, etc, etc. This was all carried out in total sympathy with the cars provenance and pedigree.
Finished
in its original Coronet Cream, with red interior and white piping, this car is visually and structurally stunning. It has NEVER been
welded, and almost all of the paintwork is original.
Even now, the car has covered a mere 30000 miles in its 57 years, and complete
with its many period extras and comprehensive history, is surely unique. A gilt edged investment for the serious collector.
Viewings,
inspections and test drives welcome and encouraged, but please ring prior to travelling..... we'd hate to miss you.
